The Three-Day High Level Forum for Museums was finished

A three-day forum was hold at Shenzhen, Where it was opening ceremony of Deputy Prime Minister of China , Minister of Culture of China , UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture., and the world's top universities, as well as the world's leading museums, museums and high-level forums.


More than 40 national museum curators and experts representing more than 200 people gathered from 9 to 12 November to explore how museums can contribute to global sustainable development and intercultural communication.
The Forum was hosted by UNESCO, the National Commission of UNESCO, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture and Sports, and the Shenzhen Art Museum.
The theme of the high-level forum was to focus in depth the museum's role in promoting global sustainable development and cross-cultural communication'..



Dr. Maamoun Abdulkarim the Director General travelled to attend the forum where he took part as a panelist for session 2A –protection cultural property in conflicts situation. The Director General delivered a speech on the current state of the Syrian museums and the DGAM procedures to rescue the museum’s collection during the crisis. He talked about the importance of developing databases in the Syrian museums, the importance to combat the smuggling of antiquities at the international level and the implementation of Security Council resolution 2199 in an effective way to combat the smuggling of Antiquities. He also pointed on the efforts that have been made by the DGAM as well as other government institutions that provided support and also the role of the local community in all Syrian cities.


The Forum’s high-level international panelists, including many directors of the world’s great museums, discussed new museum sector trends and public policies, the protection of cultural property and collections, the ethical and technological standards for museums, and how better to engage and benefit communities. The implementation of the 2015 Recommendation and reinforcement of international cooperation in the field of museums also was discussed.
At the conclusion of the forum in the presence of UNESCO Director-General Ms.Irina Bokova, her Assistant for Culture Mr. Francesco Bandarin, Chinese Minister of Education and the Mayor of Shenzhen was launched Shenzhen announcement about the museums in the world
