Breaking the massive building blocks from ancient buildings into smaller stones for sell or use to build by using heavy machines is now takes place on a massive scale in al-Bara archaeological site.
This activity appear in the ancient building located behind the Pyramid Tomb because of its location near the main road. Metal and other types of detectors are used in archaeological site and the unearthed ancient coins were taken by locals. the digs there revealed a tomb which was vandals completely. Bterssa, Majlaya, Bauda and Bshella in Zawia part suffer also from Bulldozing the landscape in order to build new buildings and illicit excavations. It was noticed that, these acts of vandalism were done by expert persons, provided with equipment, and they usually choose specific places such as tombs and cemeteries.
It is worth mentioning, that al Bara located within the "Park of al Zawia Mountain", which is one of five parks includes about 40 villages dated from the Roman and Byzantine eras. It is registered in the list of "UNESCO" World Heritage and currently classify as site endangered.
