Qassem with his collegues at DGAM
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Qassem Abdallh Yehya, who was killed by terrorist mortars this morning, Wednesday 12th of August 2015, as he was at his work at Damascus citadel.

He was born in Damascus in 1978, graduated from the Faculty of Chemical Sciences with master's degree from Italy. He was married and had three children.

He had worked at the DGAM for many years, then later became a deputy director for the Laboratories Department.

Qassem was a highly professional member operating under often stressful circumstances in the emergency  evacuating and documenting the museums artifacts during the recent crisis.

However, it is his family who will feel his loss the greatest and our thoughts and prayers go out to them all.
