DGAM welcomed 2 experts of ICONEM, France, Mr. Yves Ubelmann, Arch. and Mr. Olivier Bourgeois, in order to train selected DGAM staff from several departments on using new techniques in archaeological documentation and architectural elevation, using computer tools that perform photogrammetric processing of digital images and generates real-size 3D spatial data.
Training took place in Damascus, Latakia, and Tartous, applied on museum objects and monuments with an output of 40'000 pictures, shot in situ. This stage comes after accomplishing part 1 of documenting and modeling Crac Des Chevaliers. These 2 experts will offer a training program in a comprehensive 1-year project in several courses, scheduled to relaunch next Spring.
DGAM staff express their thanks to ICONEM and their experts for helping DGAM document the Syrian cultural heritage during the conflict.
