A team of DGAM staff members are still working, in collaboration with ICONEM, a French architectural firm managed by Mr. Yves Ublemann, on the documentation works of archaeological sites and historical monuments in different regions of Syria, using 3D photogrammetry techniques.
Upon field work visits to Ugarit and the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, experts from DGAM and ICONEM have published virtual tours to each. The publication of these videos comes as planned to share the outcomes of this project with the public through this DGAM website and ICONEM's dedicated page on their website: www.iconem.com/syria
This collaboration started by early 2015 with training sessions tutored by Mr. Ublemann in Damascus, allowing trainees of DGAM to start this project of documenting the Syrian heritage through methodological sessions of photoshooting, with direct scientific contact of Dr. Houmam Saad. As a result, all participants of this project could do several archaeological sites and historical monuments whose outcome will gradually be published here, on DGAM website.
ICONEM is an independent architectural firm based in Paris, which is specialized in documenting the human heritage around the world, especially by using drones, and volunteering in this project with DGAM. Moreover, Mr. Ublemann has been doing his field works in Syria since 2005, in several archaeological sites, he also contributed in setting up the showrooms of plaster sculptures in the Museum of Palmyra.
