Virtual tour for the Theatre of Jableh
13/03/2016 - عدد القراءات : 2782

We already published here, on this DGAM website, the ongoing results of the documentation of the Syrian heritage using 3D photogrammetry techniques.  First of which were rendered architectural plans of the court at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, then were virtual tours of both the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus and the archaeological site of Ugarit.

Recently, the Theatre of Jableh was surveyed using the same techniques to accomplish rendered architectural plans and a virtual tour to the theatre and its components.

The following footage presents a 3D model of the theatre showing also e reconstruction of the missing parts of the amphitheatre:

In the following poster, there are architectural drawings, including a general plan and 3 sections overlooking the interior facades of the amphitheatre and the the sage:

Those results come in a chain of consecutive technical survey and documentation works of archaeological sites and historical monuments in different regions of Syria, in collaboration with ICONEM, a French architectural firm managed by Mr. Yves Ublemann, using 3D photogrammetry techniques.

The publication of these videos comes as planned to share the outcomes of this project with the public through this DGAM website and ICONEM's dedicated page on their website: www.iconem.com/syria.

This collaboration started by early 2015 with training sessions tutored by Mr. Ublemann in Damascus, allowing trainees of DGAM to start this project of documenting the Syrian heritage through methodological sessions of photoshooting, with direct scientific contact of Dr. Houmam Saad.  As a result, all participants of this project could do several archaeological sites and historical monuments whose outcome will gradually be published here, on DGAM website.
