After the entry of the Syrian armed forces to the city of Palmyra a couple of days ago
, upon a major operation to liberate the city launched several days ago, the Arabian Citadel (also known as the Arabian Citadel and Fakhr-al-Din al-Maani Castle) was recaptured
, located on the western hill outside the city, after the expulsion of the terrorist militants of ISIS.
The Syrian Arab News Association (SANA) published several photos of the city, of which we select those relating to the ancient city of Palmyra, showing that the ruins are primarily in a good condition, including the theatre, the agora, the tetrapylon, the 1.1-km great colonnade.
However, upon restoring the city, experts for DGAM will directly plan a field visit for damage assessment, and consequently develop an action plan to restore and rehabilitate the city in order to open the site back to its residents and visitors as soon as possible.
