Dr. Maamoun Abdulkarim
, Director-General of Antiquities and Museums, has a field visit in Al_Hasakeh region on 12/july/2016, accompanied by the Head of the Department of Antiquities in Al_Hasakeh Mr. Khalid Ohmo
, and a number of guards and technicians, where Mr. Director-General visited of two important archeological sites Tel Mozan
and Tel Taban.
It was found that Tel Taban site, had been heavily damaged by criminal acts of the Antiquities gangs, during the ISIS occupation of this site, such damages appeared as creation of three tunnels in the body of the hill in the western and northern part, and the total length of these tunnels more than twenty meters, and it is certainly that these tunnels have caused a big damages in the important archaeological levels of this hill, which was located to the south of the city of Al_Hasakeh on the eastern bank of Al_Basel Lake Dam,.
It is important to mention that the Japanese Mission has worked in the site between 1997-1999 and then between 2005-2006. Revealed in these seasons for important archaeological levels, dating back to the era of Uruk broker, as well as levels return to ancient Babylonian period, around the seventh century BC, and important buildings are dated to the period of the Assyrian intermediate around the twelfth century BC, and had found it on some cuneiform tablets. ,and the Director general visited Tel Mozan (URKESH) also, who worked in it since 1984, a US mission from Los Angeles University, headed by Giorgio Puccilaty
