Conclusion of workshop: Emergency Measures to safeguard the Syrian Cultural Heritage during and after the Conflict18/10/2015 - عدد القراءات : 2615

The Faculty of Letters at the University of Damascus, in cooperation with DGAM, concluded the training workshop on "Emergency Measures to safeguard the Syrian Cultural Heritage during and after the Conflict", in a ceremony of awarding the participants, trainees and trainers, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hassan Kurdi, president of the University of Damascus, Prof. Dr. Khaled Halbouni, dean of the Faculty of Letters, and Prof. Dr. Maamoun Abdulkarim, DG of Antiquities and Museums.

The opening speech was given by Prof. Halbouni, who assured the importance of constant training to members of the new generations in order to value and safeguard the heritage.  Afterwards, Prof. Abdulkarim stated the vision of DGAM during the conflict and the strategy to protect the cultural properties.  In common, all speakers emphasized on the role of mutual collaboration between the University of Damascus and DGAM, in order to produce more future training workshops.

At the end of the ceremony, certificates of participation were given to the 21 trainees and the 14 expert trainers of DGAM, Department of Archaeology at the Faculty of Letters, and the Ministry of Interiors represented by Lieutenant Colonel Khaled Hussein, president of INTERPOL Syria.
