The 3-day training on using new techniques in archaeological documentation started yesterday on January 11th, 2016 at UNESCO office in Beirut to some DGAM staff members.

The Training held in collaboration with ICOMOS, CyArk (US-based non-profit organization with the mission of using new technologies to create a free, 3D online library of the world's cultural heritage sites) and UNESCO Beirut office “Emergency Safeguarding to the Syrian Cultural Heritage” within the initiative program, Project Anqa, focused on the rapid recoding of at-risk cultural heritage in Syria & Iraq.

The training aims to form a series of teams experienced in advanced reality capture methodologies for heritage documentation to document a series of sites in the region of conflict zones in Syria and continued advancements in technologies such as 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry which can document sites rapidly and produce accurate high-definition information can be used for restoration and replication.
