In light of the current circumstances that faces the Syrian cultural heritage, the Directorate of Excavation and Archaeological
Studies in DGAM, has been digitizing the Documents in the Directorate.
The Digitizing includes the scientific reports resulting from the excavation work in the Syrian archaeological sites , the topographic maps , which were previously excavated and the hardcopies of the Documents are saved in Directorate of Excavation.
Till the date, all reports and plans of ten Syrian governorates have been digitized, theses governorates are (Damascus, Damascus countryside, Daraa, Alswaidaa, Homs, Hama, Idleb, Tartous, Lattakia and Aleppo) and the total number of the documents which were digitalized are 3227, which is distributed among the reports of scientific excavations, emergency works, comprehensive district study, as well as monthly or seasonal reports received by the Directorate from the archeological departments in Syria.
The digitization of the Documents of Deir Al-Zour, Al-Raqqa and Al-Hasakah governorates will be completed during this year.
When finishing of digitizing all documents, we will start in archiving and documenting these digitalized documents using Documenting program of the Archaeological sites of DGAM
